Well Im not in the August EBC course, and you know why? Because I once again left doing things to the last minute and the August course I was told is completely sold out. (Any last minute cancellations?, I was adviced not to put my money on it!) Im not so happy about this because I guess like a lot of the students who got in, I was looking to starting work in Sept/Oct. I rang the Madrid office, spoke to this British chap, and he told me I could train in their other school in Buenos Aires, come back for the Sept/Oct hiring season or the January one in Madrid. I have a British passport and they say I wont have a problem finding a job in Madrid. Although this is very encouraging I still feel I need training, I have absolutely no experience in teaching. I chose EBC because of their good reputation with regards to job search assistance in Madrid. I also looked into the many TEFL programmes offered in Spain, they also looked good, but I would rather train with EBC. I was a bit cheeky and asked them at EBC if I could train with another TEFL school and if they could help me get job interviews as they seem to have a surplus of job contacts, and they said they unfortunately only gave the job assistance to their graduates. Worth the try.
A high street travel agent told me I could go London Madrid one way, on these real cheap standby flights then buy a return Madrid Buenos Aires flight, she suggested Air Madrid. Anyone heard of this company? Again I was told Air Madrid runs on the lines of Virgin, no frills, low fares, but you bring your own nosh !! Any suggestions? No, not suggestions on what food to bring! The funny thing is the original plan was to train in Madrid, work in Madrid, maybe Barcelona till the Christmas, then off to Argentina for the Feb hiring season. Looks like Im going to have to do the Southern Hemisphere first. Im new to Dave Esl (new to TEFL, full stop) and as my friends suggested, I logged on to this site. Its a very helpful site, so full of information. Please email me at [email protected] or pm me your suggestions/advice. Thank you.
Cheers,
