I have been offered a Secondary ESL teaching position at a school run by the United Servants Organization out of Takoradi, Ghana. Does anyone know anything about this organization, their schools, teaching in Ghana?
Please contact me at [email protected]
Thanks! |

I would check it out. Ya never know.
The US is English speaking country and we have ESL.
Also, English is a language that is spoken in many countries but yet it may be only the privelaged who can afford formal classes.
Also ESL teachers do remedial writing and reading curriculim, so you never know?
Check them out first, references, websites, chamber of commerce, rotary club etc. Ask to talk to any past or current staff about their experiences.
Good Luck
Michael
ps let me know if it is legit, Ghana sounds nice |

Hi everyone,
I originally posted the question about United Servants school in Ghana. I did go ahead with my application to teach for them and they offered me a job...on the condition that I submit $200 for my visa fee. This money was to be reimbersed when I arrived. They sent me what seemed to be a legitimate contract and the "principal" even called me in the US from Ghana to answer my questions. Well, a week later they told me I needed to send another $300 to have a barrister certify my contract on thier end and then refused to send me proof of any visa. So, I was duped...they stole $200 from me and I still have not got to work in Ghana. Beware of United Servants...too bad they are not the "true servants of God" they claim to be.

PS. Contact some US nonprofits in Ghana, often they do ESL work.
They would be lucky to have you! |
