I just wanted to add a few things to this particular topic about getting a job in KSA.
I read a few points which I think, while not wrong, are not always correct.
1. Being a Muslim CAN and DOES help, depends on who you are talking to. I will give an example.
Last weekend in Manchester U.K. the Saudis held a fair to promote Saudi culture in Heaton Park, North Manchester. Prince Turki (not sure of spelling) attended and personally offered my friend and his wife teaching jobs in Saudi. She has a qualification in teaching English, the husband does not jknow the first thing about it. The fact they were both practising Muslims was all they cared about. The package was modest, usual wage plus flights once a year , medical and education.
It can help to be Muslim but again, depends who you talk to.
2. Many influential ppl from saudi come to the U.K to study. I personally helped a professor from Riyadh with his English for his studies here at Manchester University and during the time he was here he actively sought ppl to fill jobs in saudi. Jobs which do not get advertised and are filled by recommendation only. I was at a dinner with some saudis and they offered 2 ppl jobs on the spot, within a week all arrangements were completed and off they went. Neither had a degree or any formal teaching qualifications. One spoke some arabic but the other did not. I was asked many times to find muslims who wanted to go to KSA and would take a teaching job as a way in. The wages were not great but it was agreed that it was just so ppl from the UK could go to KSA.
Saudi is very much a country were who you know matters more than what qualification you have. I know of a few ppl being given jobs purely because a saudi they got to know in the U.K. had finished his studies and was returning and wished to help the ppl he had met while in the U.K.
Another couple I know went to saudi to teach and the jobs they had were not very well paid but as living in saudi was their main aim they did not mind. Within a month a saudi offered them private tution work which amounted to 2 hrs per day for 4 days (friday not being a working day) and they earned more in them 8hrs than a whole week at the school they had worked at.
These are not exceptions, Many Muslims I know could tell you the same.
Saudi being a muslim country and the most practising means that many Muslims will find it easier to get in being Muslim and having a degree need not be the be all and end all.
All the examples I have mentioned have been Muslims of all nationalities with many English White Muslims included.
I just thought that may be informative as well as help the person who started the thread and help them perservere. |
