A certain large chain of language mills with a two-letter logo claims, in an advertisement on this site, that Bekasi is a 30 minute taxi ride from downtown Jakarta.
Yeah...right...
Then the same schools wonder why people become disillusioned and quit within the first month. A bit of honesty would save a lot of hassle. |

I've often come across this kind of disinformation from schools and it's a big red light as far as I'm concerned. It's so stupid because the potential employee will soon find out the truth once he or she arrives and will instantly know he's dealing with a bunch of sly, lying gits.
Calling this "misinformation" is being to nice as I'm sure the school in question is deliberately trying to mislead people about the travel time from Bekasi to Jakarta pusat. Everyone and their granny knows it takes six hundred light years at warp factor five to get to the centre of Jakarta from Bekasi. Longer if you hop on one leg. |

Since the original post I have seen a few other claims about duration of taxi journeys in and around Jakarta, so to put these into perspective lets try to find the record for the longest (in terms of time taken) taxi ride made by teachers in Jakarta.
My own record is pretty meagre - me being a relative newcomer - of 2 hrs from Senayan to BSD. |

My wife went through her entire nine month term in the back of a Bluebird going from Pondok Indah to Jalan Jaksa. She had to give birth at the Welcome Monument roundabout. Apt, I thought. Yes, from conception to real live baby, all during one taxi ride through the traffic jams of Jakarta. Next time we're going to try Pondok Indah to Ancol, maybe we can raise and educate 3 or 4 kiddies. I think I'll hire a Silverbird for that one tho ugh.

Sounds like an interesting taxi ride!
Seriously though, how long would it take from Bekasi to the centre of Jakarta and vice versa? |
