No more emoticon help. No more gentle admonishing. This is a sad day for the Turkey forum. Arrow Sad

I'm touched Laughing and still here, by the way,

Always happy to help out when and where I can.

Regarding the moderator's job: I asked Dave to release me from that.

I'm basically a positive, upbeat, 'the glass is half full' kind of person.

Being a mod, however, brings you into daily contact with basically negative situations,

sometimes downright ugly; trolling, stalking, name-calling, etc.

And it is also very time consuming ...

when you consider how many forums there are,

and how many posts go up on any given day.

And to top it off - the job pays Twisted Evil absolutely nothing!

Having said that, the most disturbing aspect of the job was this:

I started taking all these spats and forum issues home with me at the end of the day,

and actually got really stressed out over it.

i.e., I was taking these forum disputes far too seriously & far too personally,

second-guessing my interventions, worrying that I was too strict, or not strict enough, etc.

That's when I decided I should back out, and return to life as a normal member of Dave's.

The Master Index pages keep me busy as it is, updating content, removing dead links,

and helping to franchise the concept onto other forums.

I'm happy to continue making that modest contribution -

and leave the "cop job" to those who are better suited for it.

Let me add one closing comment:

I have nothing but respect for the moderators here at Dave's.

They are good people who volunteer their time to keep the forums reasonably civilised,

but trust me: you wouldn't want the job.

Thanks, you guys, for the kind words.

I feel like !
