Hi!

I am moving to Dubai in two weeks and I am debating if I should buy my apple computer here in the USA or in Dubai. Does any one know about prices of apple computers in Dubai? If you have some tips of other things there are worth buying in America please let me know!

Thanks! Very Happy

From what I have seen, nowhere in the world sells computers cheaper than the US.

I always bought my laptops in the US and took it with me. I wouldn't drag a desk type with me since the shipping costs would be excessive.

Definitely buy it in the States, you'll save a bundle. They're going to open an Apple Center in the Ibn B. Mall sometime soon, but the prices will certainly be higher than in the states. In this part of the world, almost all of the neat "gadgets" command a higher price.
Something else to note: Many GCC countries will levy an import tariff on items that are brought in, but not yet out of the box. If you do by the Apple (why not a PC?), take it out of the box, do some test driving, and then bring it in as your "used" machine.

I third that emotion. What a pity US televisions don't work in the UAE-they cost 1/2 as much.

Pardon me, but you obviously don't know much English since that has two spelling errors, but fortunately you find yourself amusing.

Obviously the added cost price of the ticket to Quanzhou is going to mean that those supposedly cheap prices are not. But you are apparently "quiet stupid" and don't understand that...

Thanks dmb. I got it now. Embarassed
I'll try to be more "quiet" stupid next time; I don't want to let on how plane stupid I can get at times.
But then again, asking stupid questions can get you intelligent answers, so being "loud" stupid is okay, right? Smile

Is this turning into an example of 'how many EFL teachers does it take to explain a vocabulary word?'

Either that, or how an OP's topic can get off track.
