Have always wanted to check out this font of actually sociable and gregarious Canadians (is that an oxymoron or what?) But have always heard it was tricky to make a living. What is the ESL and arts scene like there? www.portfolios.com/exotica www.exotica.freeservers.com
cheers

There is supposed to be a good Canadian arts scene in St. John's.
I can sometimes hear various art news, clips on CBC radio.
It is difficult to make a living, especially because of the deteriorated fishing industry. However, there is this other revival of the arts, tourism.
Sorry, but I don't have much more to contribute in those areas. Just know some of the geography.
If you feel connected, go for it. |

Is there an ESL scene in Newfoundland? If there is it is very small. Not many people who immigrate to Canada choose Newfoundland as their new home, they just don't know how good it really is there. Not to mention the fact outside of Canada hardly anyone has ever heard of Newfoundland. Including most americans and I know that for a fact.
The only kind of ESL teaching that goes on is private tutoring. However I did hear that some of the smaller colleges are starting to have asian students come over to study english. The biggest job site for Newfoundland is www.newfoundlandandlabradorjobshop.ca. The salaries for Newfoundland may be low but don't forget that we also have a very low cost of living. Something to take into consideration when looking at saleries. |

Thanks for the tips about the Newf. job market, but i couldnt find one thing about Newfoundland on that site, it was all sponsored links for american sites and such, the newf.labrador thing was just a sucker punch.
actually havent been able to find much at all online to connect with Newf.people, forums or whatnot. |
