At about 11.00 today my students told me that they had heard of the death of King Fahad. Some thought this was an excuse for going home but I certainly did not tell them to disappear. Is everyone else still attempting to have classes ? |

You're teaching now? Summer school? Have you had no summer break or did you come back early... |

Scot47:
There are several important and pressing reasons for Saudi students to leave class early, amongst them being the fact that the buffia has run out of "Bebsi".
I must agree with VS, still working during the summer...ouch!

Well, it was long-expected news. Still, I was disappointed. No security force manning the wire, no armored vehicles. Nothing. We got the word by mobile-rumor at about 9:30. By ten it was confirmed. We had class, nobody was upset, or even very interested.
They students were held until 1430 for some reason. The general made an official announcement in the auditorium and told the troops not to go home until further notice. No idea why.
On Tuesday we were all dismissed early, and we have Wednesday off as a Student Day. So a three and a half day weekend. |
