I will be moving to Vina del Mar towards the end of December 2005. My job doesnt start until January 16th so I am planning on finding an apartment and getting situated before classes begin. This will be my first teaching position as well as my first time traveling alone. Im excited to begin my new journey. Im planning on staying in a hostel until I find a room for rent or an apartment. Does anyone know if its difficult to find a place to live in Vina del Mar? Would I be better off looking for a room for rent or an apartment? I would think a room would be much cheaper. Im currently beginning my work visa process so I will have my visa by the time arrive. I heard its easy to find a place if you have a visa. Any input??? Also is anyone planning on being in Vina del Mar around the same time?

Hi Gretchen,
I'm currently living in Via - nice place but expensive if you want a place to yourself. I recommend looking through the Mercurio (also online) for rooms for rent. Much cheaper. Also - location is also big. Closer to the beach and you'll be paying a lot more. Just out of curiosity - what will ya be doing for work? |

Weona,
I appreciate your response. I will be teaching English at International Centre. After doing some research on Chile, Vina del Mar/Valapriso seems like a great place to live. I love the beach as well as the mountains. How long have you been living in Vina? Have you lived in other areas of Chile? I agree, a room for rent would be much cheaper, however, will it be pretty easy finding a place once Im there? |
