Hello,
I have been looking at training courses for quite some time and am still having trouble trying to decide if many are reputable or not. I certainly know that a CELTA would be preferred, but it does not seem that I will be able to take a CELTA course abroad giving my timetable for leaving in conjunction with the hiring period in Poland. The Intesol distance/onsite option where 70 hours of independent study is followed by two weeks onsite seems to respond to some of the qualms I have--particularly the need for teaching practice that a fullly distance course omits. However, it is not a CELTA. Does anyone have any information on Intesol as a teacher training provider? Are they generally perceived as reputable? Any bad experiences/impressions? Good ones?
And as far as the distance/onsite TEFL goes, does anyone have any experience with this? Is finding a job far more difficult, or are you looked down upon because the certificate was obtained (partially) through distance learning? Has anyone heard about or experienced one of these courses? Does this seem like a more preferable option given my time constraints, or will not having a CELTA really kill me (in E. Europe)?
I still have yet to hear from anyone on this option, and I would really like some feedback. I don't want to walk into this blindly. Thanks for your help!
