ooooh just thought of a question. Can someone tell me what the exchange rate against the pound is out there at a bank (and commission charges). Would it be wiser to change money here (in London) there or bring dollars (US). I've asked around and I'm getting conflicting advice,
thanks,
Nathalie

my advice is to change money here maybe bring just abit of US to pay for taxi and your hostel.

leave all ur cash in ur home country bank account and take it out via eftpos there are lots of atms - the charges depend on ur bank - mine charges AUS$5 per transaction

yeah doesn;t answer all ur question but im telling u anyways

The rate's around 5 at the moment, down from 5.7 5 months ago. The peso follows the dollar as the argentine government has a policy of keeping the peso at 3 to the dollar to help exports and foreign investments.

Take money out of cash points and you get around 4.9 and whatever your bank charges you. Lloydstsb charges me around 3 to take out 1000pesos using my Visa Debit Card and 4 using my Mastercard. No point trying to buy pesos in england, i doubt anyone would have them and if they did you'd get a crap rate. Just take it out the wall here. Having $20 for the taxi ride into town is a good idea as the exchange booth in the arrivals hall rips you off with around 4pesos to the .

only things i paid for in dollars after leaving the country were a remise from the airport and a beer on the plane.

Don't forget you will probably want to buy lunch at a stopever or atleast a magazine at the airport so bring some cash with you!
