I have a friend who is beginning her first year teaching 1st grade here in the states. She has tons of materials to prepare and create because we live in a very poor district that doesn't provide her with much.

So that made me wonder: How many of you out there in TEFL land wish you had brought anything from home that is too expensive (given your low pay) to buy and the schools don't provide.

Such as books, other reference, tape recorders, etc.

Just curious. Also any stories from the classroom that you 'seasoned teachers' would like to share....

if i could I wouldhave brought a small tape recorder hard to find here and expensive!!
