Hi there.
I have been offered 2 teaching posts in China but both want me to sent them a health certificate. I was always under the impression that you got your health certificate within the 30 day period on arrival in China. I've checked the UK Chinese Embassy web site and they say that a health certificate is needed on application for a Z Visa.
So this health certificate is it an official form or just a letter from your family doctor ?
Cheers...gr8_bear. |

It's an official document/form that you either get from the Chinese Embassy website - or from the Chinese Embassy that's nearest to you.
It includes getting an ECG - heart check test; a chest x-ray; various blood tests; and a full check from your favourite doctor; plus their stamp...
However, there are stories of people having to do it all over again on arrival - that's just the way it is!
On the other side of things, I would only send my health details to the actual school I'd decided to work at. Not a variety. I'd rather keep personal info and all that to myself until I'm sure of where it's going.
Hope that helps. |

Its more like a pain in the sphincter rather than a letter from your doctor. You'll have to get the requisite form from your nearest PRC Embassy/consulate, or see if there's one available for download from their website; other forms are there so it may be.
Then get your MD to run the exam, and submit the form with your other Z visa paperwork.
The really annoying thing is you're often told to do it again when you get here - it's a real revenue raiser.
But if you can get away with getting it done once, on national health before you come, it's the easiest way to go, not to mention cheaper. |

My 3 cents. Some consulates insist that you include this form, the invitation letter, and the money. Other consulates do not ask for the form. My NYCity consulate insisted on the form, half of which I just fudged, I hate to say. They couldn't care less. I paid for the chest xray, only to have it done, along with everything else, when I got to China.
Sending the health form to your school may get you out of having to do another physical when you get there (depends on the school/province). This is much to be desired. If the consulate insists on the form, it must be their health form |

Of paramount importance is the HIV test. It goes without saying that for this condition to be safely esxcluded you must be examined as recently as possible, and by as competent a medical facility as possible.
The Chinese do not always trust unfamiliar authorities; you may very well have to undergo another medical check-up in China.
If your school pays for your work visa, they might apply for you in China. Many of us here get a local medical exam and a visa issued here. |

When I had my first of many of those medical examinations for a Chinese Z visa, I saw a bunch of X-rays hanging up in the doctor's office. What I found most funny of all was the fact that the vasy majority of these pictures (which were of the hip area) showed the outlines of keys in the people's pockets!!!! Have they no idea how dangerous metal is when x-rayed?!*&^%$#@! Mind blowing, absolutely mind blowing. |

Thank you for sharing your wonderful sense of humour with us Dr.B.
There is one thing I don't understand. What is a "vasy majority"? Is it some linguistic term that I, in my foolishness, have never learned? What do you mean, exactly? Give examples where possible.
Thanx to DRAGON |
