Please assist me if you can. I am in Abu Dhabi, and will be leaving for Thailand for a few weeks. The problem is that I have about 5 or 6 boxes of belongings that I of course don't want to take with me. I just need somewhere to keep them for about 5 or 6 weeks. I know this is not the states, where storage facilities are everywhere, but a city like Abu Dhabi has to have some type of place to hold onto a few boxes. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Even if it is not Abu Dhabi but another place in the U.A.E., it would help me a lot. Thanks. |

Hello,
I just moved out of the UAE (Abu Dhabi), and I am keeping my stuff in storage with a freight forwarding company for a few weeks until I reach my final shipping destination. It cost me about 100 dirhams for this service. I would bet that shipping companies would be happy to just store things for you and not ship, but you would probably have to pay handling fees for them to pick it up (about 100 dirhams), and about 100 dirhams per month for storage.
So you are looking at around 300 dirhams possibly, but it's important to mention that the warehouse is probably not air-conditioned. Anyway, a few of these companies are: Kanoo, Clarion (both close to each other near the Al Mariah cinema), Al Moherbie, and there are others around town.
But with a bit of looking, I bet you would find a storage company somewhere. Sorry I can't help in that regard.
Or you could just pay a friend some money for the service and keep in his/her flat. But you probably already thought of that.
The last possiblity is taping up the boxes and label them "evidence" in both Arabic and English, then drop them off at the nearest police station.
Best of luck. |
