Hi everyone,
As you know, I am currently looking for other opportunities although my contract only expires at the end of December. The first question potential employers often asks, is when does your contract expire and also many schools need a reference letter from previous or current employers. Can anybody assist in how do I deal with these questions, please???? |

Judging by your former posts, you have had a number of run-ins with your employer. THis may make it difficult for you to obtain from him your RELEASE letter, without which you cannot legally switch jobs. Try to write one yourself on stationery provided by your school, ask your slave driver to simply sign and stamp it, voila! Most bosses oblige.
A release letter must be prsented to the local PSB together with your residence permit.
Find a new employer, show him your release letter, and he will have to take you for a medical exam again, then to the PSB for a new work visa. The old one normally gets cancelled.
It should not be so difficult, really! |

| My apologies, I accepted everybody can remember the issues I had with my school. I am leaving because I am very unhappy with the way I have been treated and the way they have cheated me out of my hard earned salary. |

Welcome, brother, to the fraternal organization of foreign English teachers in China. Anyone out there NOT have a story like this, at least from early in your career here?
I still don't know details of your resume or how long you've been with your current weasels. The truth is the best when possible...most managers have also endured this themselves or have at least heard about it. If not tolerating mistreatment and cheating make you "undesirable" then perhaps you don't want to work there anyway. However, it will warm the heart of any manager if you can at least finish out your contract first. How much longer do you have? Can you hang in there?
The release letter Roger mentioned can be a problem if you have a Z visa...you DO have a Z visa, don't you??? You may have to go to Hong Kong (thus negating your old visa), re-enter on a tourist visa, and let your new employer upgrade you to a Z.

A qiuck look at some of your earlier posts indicates that while your employer is no good, your relationship with your students is. I echo MTs recommendation - hang in there, focus on the positives, and line up something much better for next year. Your employer can hardly refuse a release letter after a year's good service. If you want to PM me re qualifications/experience, I may be able to give you a "big city" lead, as the sort of treatment you've received is much rarer here. |
