Sorry to keep peppering the board with clueless questions, but I'm presuming that that's one of the functions of this forum...helping the uninformed. Once I become more informed myself, I promise to be a good online community member by returning the favor!
I have a job offer from one of the Wall Street language schools. Their name creeps me out, but the pay kicks the boodie of the other salaries I've been offered. Anyone know anything about this Wall Street outfit?
cheers,

A few years ago I spoke to them over the telephone, the telephone chick sounded more like a telephone canvasser than anything else, she read to me from a prepared script, answered my questions from what sounded like a list of prepared answers, and tried to force me to make an appointment.
You had to do their unpaid training program, work ungodly hours, and put up with loads of garbage from petty hitlers. At least that's what I gathered from my telephone enquiries.
Walking past Wall Street in Col. Juarez (Zona Rosa) I used to see banks of computers on the first floor, usually with some students plugged into them. Despite the higher pay offered, it looked like a mini-infierno to me.
DisclaimerL It may have changed, plus I never knew anyone who actually worked there. |

I asked on the other thread where you got a job and here is the answer. The only Wall Street Institute I know of is located in Metepec - in the shopping mall (yes a mall). Metepec is the richest part of town ... which has its pros and cons. You may or may not be able to live close to work. I dont know anything more about the school itself. |

I hope it's not taboo to ask how much they pay. I'm comparing the different pay scales of the various institutes around here, they all seem much the same (about $7000 pesos a month for ungodly hours and split shifts), though one school I know of pays much more than that (offering $10k to $15k a month, check the newspaper, they have ads every Sunday in El Universal, and they are heavily recruiting right now). It's a lot of work hours of course, but the pay seems decent. Does Wall Street pay anywhere in that ballpark figure? And for how many hours of work? Just curious.... |

I don't know of any language school where you can make a decent salary without working split shifts M-F plus 4 or 5 hours on Saturday. |

Wall Street offered in the neighborhood of 8-10K depending on how much I wanted to work...that's why I would even be considering it.
However, there doesn't seem to be much to recommend being a Wall Streetista in Toluca outside of the money. |
