If 'has went' has caused any confusion, it's probably my fault.
I'm sorry. |

Hay Ash you and I are from the same country, yet I live here and know some of the nice folks on line and yet I still don't know what the HELL this thread is about, if you can work it out let me know.

Dear Calsimsek, I didn't start this thread. I don't know what the HELL it's about. Should I? I know some of the nice folks online too. I met them when I was there (here, in your frame of reference) and it's nice that I've met them and they've helped me out quite a bit. That's partly why I post. And also because I'm planning on teaching in Turkey when I finish my qualifications and become a 'real' teacher.
I definitely haven't met you, but would like to. Then you might be less suspicious of me. Where exactly are you from anyway? Qld? or Vic?
I live here for now (not Turkey). Is that Ok, or would you like me to apologise? |

It is nice to see a TEFLer take the time and spend the money to get real qualifications. Perhaps if more TEFLers did this then TEFL wouldn't be the joke it is.
Sadly you will be so over-qualified and have to work with the dregs that the English speaking developed countries have no use for. |

Hey 31,
Thanks for your comments.
One of the reasons I've been so frustrated with doing this teacher training is because it's not pure EFL, and I don't know how eager I really am to work long-term in a mainstream Australian school. But I like teaching. I used to work (unqualified and untrained) teaching EFL in Indonesia and Burma. In Indonesia I worked for the cash to get home. In Burma I worked as a volunteer. |

But at least you will be able to hold your head up and know that you are a real teacher unlike the majority of cringing TEFLers. |

No, I have just realised that TEFL does in fact provide a useful purpose in society. It allows the developed English speaking countries with a free way to jettison their unemployable.
It would also be a good idea if the social teamed up with ET and gave the unemployed a one way ticket to Ist and a guaranteed job with ET. It would be a win win situation. The social would get rid of the scroungers and so save the taxpayer a fortune and ET and its ilk would get free TEFLers and without the recruitment costs and airfare. The unemployed would get cheap beer and fags and have something to do. If it worked out I could be in line for an OBE.
Another idea of mine is to make the unemployed take the forthcoming ET CELTA and charge them for it. Of course as they are skint it would be deducted with interest from their future hourly paid earnings along with accomodation costs, canteen costs and any other costs we could come up with.
I am on a roll today. |

I am concerned though that Keith doesn't drink enough to be a TEFLer. He can't read or write but that is no handicap in an ET elementary class. He is scruffy enough, skint enough and pathetic enough. He gives nothing back to society and is lazy. Ideal tefler and he would pull because there is always a gorgeous twenty something elementary class student who would feel sorry for him, find him sweet and would shag him. |
