You'll have to get a job and a residents permit before you can get an apt.
What kind of job are you looking for? |

Are u guys in China now? It's lunch time here lo. Haha, I have been sitting here since 8am this morning, not sure how much the owner of this place is going to charge me, haha . Anyway, it's 11:59am in China now, I guess I've got to get lunch. By the way, that noodle place outside of my friend's apt in TianHe dist is quiet good actually. I guess I am getting Yan Zhou noodle again. TW, u are in Canada, right? Good night! |

Which passport did you use to enter China? If you have your Chinese passport with you, then use it to rent an apartment. Did you bring your residence registration (户口) card to China?

Nonsense. The only stipulation is that it is 'police-approved accommodation' and you have a valid visa (whether that be for employment or tourism).
'G.Z.', iff (and that is not a typographic error) I were you, I would be careful with your spelling of (the city I know as) Canton, otherwise 'Roger' will come down on you! He has decreed that it is one 'word'. Talking of place names, what happened to that sinophilistic sycophant 'Alex _P'? Did he depart after becoming ashamed and embarrassed of his own posts? |

Maybe he left when he realized that after most posters taking him so seriously in the begining he was just a joke in the end. |

Only CHinese are so silly as to publicise their telephone numbers in a public forum.
If you are not a Chinese then why do you think you can get a job without going through the regular legal motions of finding an employer first, and through them a dwelling-place? |

Where are you from, matey? So naive! Are you trying to play some game here?
And right, Zero Hero, we write not 'Can Ton" or "Guang Zhou" but 'Canton" or 'Guangzhou'; likewise it is the year 2005, not 20 05. |

I'd completely forgotten about Alex_P!
Still, I am sure that someone would be only too willing to take his place under a new username. Any offers?
I am sure that Chinese are not unique in wanting to publish their own mobile phone number on a public net forum, though, Roger. Then again, he could have simply asked for someone to send him a PM! I guess that he must be "on the move" all the time!
This is "Two zero zero five year" for most English-speaking Chinese. Admittedly, though, I react negatively whenever I see the names of Chinese cities written as more than one word in Pinyin, such as "Wu Han" instead of "Wuhan". Even worse is when it is spelt as one word but the first letter of each part of the word representing a separate character is capitalised, such as "WuHan" - UGH! |
