A female chav or chavette is a skanky slapper who you can see on Saturdays in town centres pushing a pushchair load of screaming snotty kids who all have different fathers. She has been doing stacks of chavs since she was in a trainer bra and now at the age of 22 she is fat, wears baggy jackets, adidas jogging trousers tucked into boots, loads of big cheap gold effect jewelery from Argos. She has been smoking since 10 and speaks with a horrible common accent. She has no money but money for cheap alcohol and cigarettes. She gets money off the social but does some kind of stupid party plan crap like Ann Summers. She is the TEFLer equivalent of suburban outside Macdonalds UK scum. Her hair is scraped back so her face is tight whereas another part of her is most definitely not
and her nose is red from drink and she has bruises which her crappy make up does not hide.
She shouts and swears at her kids in public. She likes fake Burberry gear and uses scrunchies to tie her rank hair back. She eats junk food and is a trampy skank.

Male chav wears a hood, adidas fake if possible tucked into white trainers. He has a no of kids who he takes little interest in except to dress em up in footie gear and boast how he loves Chelsea innit. He loves crappy cars like Novas. He can't work but gets money of the social, selling hash and off his parents. He hangs around shopping centres and outside Macdonalds, does petty violence and vandalism, gets wasted as often as the money will allow. Bangs slappers and gets em preggers

Have you seen Little Britain on BBC? Yeah but no but yeah but... That's essence of chav. Tons of 'em at the college where I work. Brummies are people from Birmingham, England's second city.
I think I was feeling pretty grumpy yesterday, hence the rant.

31, that is one of the best definitions of chav. You should send it off to urban dictionary.

Ask the English comedian Paul ("I'm a geezer, innoi?") Whitehouse.

in south oz they're called boguns. in qld, bevans. in nsw, westies. in vic: i dunno. calsimsek, do you know?
we have so many of 'em, and they are so important to our culture. hence so many names.

we also sometimes say veshunti (sp?) which is a term referring to the big white rich people who live on the hill with all their cultural capital in their veshunti mansions (invariably ugly cream confection looking things). these ladies tend to have better quality face mask and foundation, so their bruises are more well-hidden.

For those still unsure of chavism. Get a better look at English. oops I mean British culture in the 21st century.

oh oh just read this on^
Quote:
As we head into early evening we reach the staple food of every Chavs evening tvEastenders. Chavs love this soap as they can understand it and can relate to at least one character. To make this easier, the BBC kindly invented the Slater Family to increase the range of chav faves even further. Like the spice girls before them we have nicknames for each personality type, Slapper Slater (who has been turned in a wonderful Cinderella like fable with the love of a good man into Bride Slater), Mouthy Slater, Downtrodden Slater, Teen Slater and of course the queen mother and elderstates woman of TV chavs..Old Trout Slater. If a chav should miss an episode they must promise to 'watch it on Sunday' or will be forever banished from the chav community.

worth reading.

CHAV: THE WORD OF 2004?

This is one of the questions Countdown's Susie Dent asks in her new book larpers and shroomers: the language report, published on 19 October 2004 by Oxford University Press.

What is it that defines the language of the moment? Is it that curious word CHAV, virtually unknown until this year and used to describe loutish young people exhibiting COUNCIL ESTATE CHIC? Or is it the creeping of text and chat-room language into every aspect of our written life? Are our favourite TV programmes and SLEBS now directing our choice of words? Or are they all SHTUPID? Word on the SHTREET is that this is the latest trend in pronunciation. Grammar, too, is on the move - or are you SO not liking that....................
