Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. Newsweek's current issue has a long article about Istanbul. This link should work. If not, you can find it by going to MSNBC and digging through their Newsweek links.

The first paragraph put me off - since when was a "saz" a type of flute?

Got a bit further. Isn't the correct plural of "metropolis" "metropoles"?

I like the message the writers are trying to put across. But I wonder how long they spent in Istanbul.
(Actually it reminds me of the recent bomb in Kusadasi, and Johhny Dymond(BBC) couldnt even pronounce it when reporting it. How long has he been here?)

I'm very dissapointed that there was no mention of my goodself. Sad
Seriously though, Istanbul is going to be a very important city in the future. Buy property now, before the prices rocket.

Have you sent an email of complaint yet to Newsweek pointing out their lack of research in how influential you are in turning Istanbul into the new Berlin. You'd think the writers would have known you have been on the telly and everything.

If teachers in Istanbul suddenly found themselves raking in the cash, where would one buy?

A cool apartment in Beyoglu?

Something more toward Etiler?

Some beat up wreck closer to Sultanahmet?

(Hey, it's fun to think about. Heck, for me, it's fun thinking about being back in Istanbul)
