Of coure the answer is Tokyo.

Well, Tokyo has outlets of various world-famous French and American star chefs' restaurant, if you've got tons of money. Otherwise, I suppose one learns to love yoshoku. Wink

FYI: "Yoshoku" (洋食) refers to Western food. "Washoku" (和食) refers to Japanese food. I'm guessing you are referring--both here and elsewhere in this thread--to the latter? Wink

Ok moot point.....whatever..

Anyhow, I already did find a job. Was offered to me a few weeks ago and I accepted. Sent out 4 resumes, got 4 interviews, and was offered 4 jobs.

Not a bad strike rate methinks....

Moot point, other people seem happy to be contributing to this thread. Let's leave it at that.

As is often the case back home, most foreign restaurants in Japan adjust the food to meet Japanese sensibilities.

Funny you should say that because when I was in Bangkok the opposite was often true. Many Non Thai restaurants be it Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Hungarian, etc catered for the expat populations so often had food that was as good if not better than restaurants back home (with in reason). So I guess if the restaurant aims to cater to the expat community then it had better get it right.

OT, I know, but...
You're joking, right? The only decent food that calls itself Mexican in Bangkok is at Senor Pico's in the Rembrandt Hotel. And you'll pay dearly for it.
For that matter you'd be hard pressed to find any real Japanese people in most of Bangkok's Japanese joints. You can find the real thing, but once again it'll cost you.

Hungarian? Donde esta?
