| Still haven't heard from Aristotle on whether he's in Taiwan and where he's taught ESL in the country (and when). |
I think that it has become pretty clear that Aristotle is no longer in Taiwan. On a number of occasions he has commented about things that were beat up in the press but the situation on the ground was somewhat different. It therefore appears that he is relying a lot on what the Taipei Times and China Post have to say about Taiwan, and this is no doubt why his posts rely so heavily on comments from these local news sources.
One of the incidents that I refer to was the protests after A-Bian was shot. What Aristotle claimed was happening was in line with some of the scaremongering press, but being on the ground in Taipei and not too far away from the action I can definitively state that he was incorrect.
I can only speculate on what he did here, but judging by his bitterness toward authority and the fact that he used to openly promote working illegally (although not so much anymore), it is possible that his 'tour of duty' in Taiwan came to an end some time back! |

| Maybe I wasn't so clear with my point in the last post. My point is that if you really want to delve into the political affairs of Taiwan there are other forums (like Forumosa) where you will get a large and varied input from posters with a range of knowledge. |
Unfortunatly forumosa.com like many other "public services" offered to non Chinese on Taiwan has direct links to the occupational governement on Taiwan, it's cronies and maintains a stong non Chinese subjugation oriented bias.
Security is also a major concern.
Taipei is not Taiwan, Taipei is Chinese Taipei and has been the center for the occuaptional Chinese governement since it was installed.
The slave revolt occured in the south where the government in Taipei has the least control. |
