hi guys, i've been looking up the forum for good advice and tips. i'm a 21yr old canadian graduate looking to go teach in the southern, more rural parts of thailand. this is all new to me and i have no idea what to do. i have a few q's if anyone can help me.
1. tips on applying to international schools ( i was mainly looking at phuket)? or should i just go there first?
2. anyone taught in phuket (or other southern part) that could recommend a school, or again should i just go first?
3. any recommendations for a great city/town to teach in in southern thailand?

any tips would help as i am completely overwhelmed!

First of all, you're really young, so you probably only have a degree. I've been looking into the International school market for about a year, and I've discovered that you need the following:

1. A Master's degree (most of the time)
2. A teaching credential
3. AT LEAST 3 years of contract teaching

That said, they also mostly hire teachers from overseas, and these are some of the most coveted jobs in Thailand. Also, if you look at the staff pages from these schools, I've seen that most teachers are from Britain, probably because these types of schools teach British curriculum for the most part. After applying to about 20-30 different schools, I finally just gave up. I have a teaching credential (English) and 5 years of teaching experience, but no one seemed to care.
