Has anyone worked in both China and Vietnam and preferred PRC? For myself two thing are most important...
1. How much I am making per hour. So what if you make US$1500 a month if you are working 40 hours a week?
2. How much I have saved that can be taken out of the country at the end of 8-12 months
Number of job opportunities seems much higher in China, Vietnam gives you more freedom in where you work. Each country has it pluses and minuses. So I am bringing this decision down to MONEY.
Profile: Mid-age crisis university drop-out who can teach. Ready to move to wherever the best earnings are relative to hours and preparation time. I knew a guy who was teaching 50 hours a week in Saigon but he was a mental wreck (actually he was to start with!) and his students suffered. Unless I teach my own classes to small businesses or tutor I work no more than 16 hours a week. The plan is to use a school's wage to survive and quickly branch out to privates and operating as a business myself. The problem with working mega full-time (20 hrs plus) at any school is that you have no time to solicit business for yourself. |
