I suppose Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold could have considered a great career abroad if they hadn't killed themselves!

All over this board, we talk about how people often turn to EFL to get away from their pasts...guess somebody`s taking us up on it.

As I indicated on an earlier post, there is not much in the way of exit customs for Canadian citizens who leave the country. Not that I advocate such things, but it is relatively easy for someone to commit a crime and then board a flight out. All they need is a passport. It is now increasingly difficult to get now that the Canadian government is imposing more restrictions. But still, it is not as difficult to leave as if the country were a closed system and not free, like China for example.

The worst thing would be to see these criminals make it harder for honest folks like us who have no intentions of committing crimes in our home countries and then fleeing. There is still a great degree of trust for EFLers in general who accept jobs abroad, the last thing we want is for these scumbag criminals to ruin it for the rest of us.

Believe me it makes sense that alot of people leave Canada to get away from their past. But all that happens is that peoples past follows them where ever they go. I did not think Todd would run away like that. Now he's definitely not going to Asia. He's in jail for life. Too bad. I guess all of us TEFL'ers should carry around with our own careers. Right Chris420?

Yeah. Considering the fact that in the United States you either get executed or put in jail for life. I'd love to see Eric and Dylan overseas teaching english considering the fact that they'd have a hell of a time escaping from Jail. (not to mention a halfway house).
