Yes, but my trap happens to be a six-roomed villa with two hectares of land, nestling in the sierra outside Madrid. I have a car, completely paid for, only work for 9 months a year, travel within and outwith Spain frequently, and have plenty of time to spend on the more enjoyable things in life, such as piano and guitar playing, reading, and extensive alcohol and hard drug abuse. I rescue abandoned dogs from animal shelters and find good homes for them. All this, thanks to a good Scots education. Aye, laddie, apply yourself to your studies.

Have you got any farting chairs like the ones in CJ's office?
As you're a landowner, can we call you Hectare instead?
Alcohol and hard drugs, eh? Do you mean Scotch and coke?
In case 31 is wondering, alcohol abuse is putting ice in a decent dram.
Your mention of a good Scots education reminded me of a grammar book we used at school called "Spotlight on English." I think the author's name was Catto - no, not THAT one!

I have a farting dog.

Also, just to rub it in, I have a pension plan. Not a very good one, but 25,000 quid when I hit 60 will come in nicely. And to cap it all, I have my entry to the afterlife taken care of. I had to lie a wee bit, pretending to be a left-footer, but I will be buried in a Franciscan monks habit and sandals in a beautiful old church and have Mass said for me for the next zillion years.

Jack it all in and come to Turkey. The people are so friendly and you can buy blended Captain Mackeye's Scotch for three pounds fifty at the supermarket.

I'm descended from St John Ogilvie, which I hope will be taken into consideration when I'm summoned to appear in the celestial Sheriff Court. If not, it'll be eternity in the biler hoose. Mind you, with remission I should be out in a few centuries.

By the way, I have an MA in Linguistics (TESOL), just in case anyone is worried that this thread is beginning to unravel.

Nope, not worried. Carry on boys. I'm quite intrigued with a celestial Sheriff court, St John Ogilvie and cheap Scotch(not Scots) all taking place on a Sierra outside of Madrid.(from a linguistic point of view of course)

Jesus, I have forgotten what this thread was about in the first place!

Incidentally, the most serious alcohol abuse I've ever seen was when a friend came to dinner some years ago and I produced a vintage Chateau Gloria St. Julien. He said, "oh, I think I'll have a spritzer", poured out some of the wine and proceeded to add fizzy water. Shocked

I believe the term is sacrilege for that type of behaviour
