Well, I'm off to start interviewing in the one decent outfit I have. I went shopping today in central Madrid and was shocked by the prices and the rather unattractive options for shoes here.

I know I can't change a country's fashion taste (cuz if I could I'd advise them on the whole mullet look the ladies are sporting - eek) but I am hoping to at least get some advice on stocking my closet.

I am looking for both business casual and more formal business suits for women. I hear there is some giant store west of Madrid that is similar to Target, Wal-mart, etc. but don't know where or even what it is called.

Any advice will be appreciated as I will probably start my first classes this Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks,

Mango is another one you can check out, H&M is more on the casual side but there are some smart business suits sold there at affordable prices. Then there's Zara and lastly El Corte Ingls has a section called "Oportunidades" where they sell business suits at discounted prices. Mostly last season's stuff, but they're smart looking. Do you know where Calle Orense is? Zara, Mango, H&M and El Corte Ingls are all there, so you can do a one stop shopping. The closest metro stop would be Nuevos Ministerios.

Good luck on the first day!
