Hey everyone!!
I am currently teaching in China. I have read posts saying that China is much better than Thailand, but that is usually from people that started in Thailand then moved to China. Is there anyone out there that started teaching ESL in China and moved to Thailand to teach?
My second Topic... What are the requirements to teach. I don't have a university degree, but a TESL certificate and one year of experience. Are there companies that place teachers in schools, and if so what are the more reputable firms. Could I just show up and find work? Is there much opportunity for private teaching? Anything else that i might need to know would be great. Cheers |

We had a good exchange of information on this thread, regarding the two countries.

I've spent a lot of time in both places, but have only worked in China. To me, comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges- there are so many differences, some of which appeal to one type of person, some to another. Both are nice, in their own ways. Both present challenges of one sort or another.
As a place to live, I prefer Thailand, because of the warmth of the people. They seem more ready to accept "outsiders" into their lives. While they are friendly to me, I don't feel that degree of acceptance from Chinese. (Others may have a different impression.) |
