I am an Iraqi teacher of English with an MA in English literature and 15 years' experience of teaching English (7 years teaching English
Literaure at the university level and 8 teaching EFL at an oil company). I'm looking for a teaching position teaching adults anywhere in the Middle East/Central Europe/Asia.Can anyone help me with contact details etc? I can teach EFL or Literature and am a qualified translator. With regard to literature,I'm particluarly interested in Modern English Poetry and Literary Theory.
As an Iraqi it is hard to find places that hire at the present time.I would really appreciate any help.
Please could you post replies on the Gen Disc forum as I'm using Biffinbridge's handle, with his permission of course!
Thanks in advance.

I doubt that the issue is that you are an Iraqi - when I worked in Saudi many Iraqis, Palestinians, Syrians, etc were employed in the schools there. The real issue might be that they would prefer a Ph.D. from a non-native speaker.

Asia in particular will be difficult - as they tend to prefer native speakers regardless of educational level.

Personally, in your situation, I would look at elementary and secondary schools in Saudi.

Bayt.com is a good place to search for jobs in the Gulf.

Being a friend of Biffinbridge, I am not sure if this is a genuine post or him taking the pi$$
If it is the former then Biff has loads of contacts in Poland so should be able to help you out.
If it is the latter Laughing Laughing Laughing
I've just realised. Biff used to use my computer and I know his password(unless it has been changed) I could write posts on his behalf too. But of course being an upstanding member of this community I never would.

To the Iraqi teacher seeking employment in KSA

http://an1001.8m.com/ click on this link if it doesn't work copy and paste it into the address bar.

It is a website on KSA and if you scroll down to the education section you will find a whole list of higher education websites of various universities and colleges. I would think most have an on line application or contact information.
I would try - IPA (Institute of Public Administration) still in need of teachers for the fall I believe.
Good luck
