Has anyone heard of this outfit in Abu Dhabi?

The ADNOC Technical Institute.

Are they above board I wonder, and have a good reputation?

Anyone know of them?

Thanks all.

ADNOC is a respected and saught after employer in Abu Dhabi with an excellent reputation. I have not worked there but I know of several who do and they all seem pleased to be working there. I've heard that their package is a bit on the low side (I may be wrong) but that seems to be the way things are going all over.

It's the training centre of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. It's an excellent centre and if ADNOC's not benefiting from record oil prices, I don't know who is.

One thing ADNOC appears to do regularly is fire teachers during the probationary period. So think twice before you leave a well-paying stable job to go there.

Not sure but I think so. I could probably find out - watch this space!

Correction almost immediately: ADNOC is not considered a government department - it's a private company - so they weren't included in the pay-rise offer anyway.

But I thought the Abu Dhabi government (royal family?) owned the whole oil infrastructure? ADNOC is probably not what most of the world considers a 'private' company. Laughing Things are very different there in fantasyland on the Gulf...

Quite so, but technically it's not government.

Not really. The rich figure out ways to screw their servants everywhere. In the States they have to be more sophisticated about it because the serfs are more savvy. It's kind of like the "higher wall - longer ladder" thing.

Don't confuse the ADNOC Technical Institute and the ADNOC Petroleum Institute. Two very different beasts. Both potentially pretty awful to work for; or fairly good if the PI ...

There are other threads, and a distinct lack of comment from incumbents of either institution - wonder why ?!
