|
|
The question was recently asked on another thread. I think one of the reasons is that a majority of the regular contributors are such gentlemen- something I subscribe to myself, but can result in a sacrifice of reader/poster interest. (The only thread I can think of where we got some "blood up" on this forum was the one in which Sheepgoats and I exchanged a few barbs on the subject of Thailand vs. China.)
http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewtopic.php?t=24090
So, guys, next time, consider whether we aren't being just a little "too" nice around here, after all- especially if the subject merits just a little more "spice". |

Civil and informative discussions, spicy or not, are very welcome here.
As long the discussions don't violate board guidelines, there is no reason you can't make them as spicy as you want.
Looking forward to reading them. |

Maybe we could import some of the China-off topic posters ?

Importing the China Off-Topic posters? I'm getting goosebumps.
I'd better arm myself.
But seriously ...
Thailand already has 2 very popular websites where most of the
Thai vets hang out: 1. ajarn.com and 2. forum.thaivisa.com
Dave's is more of an 'international' TEFL playground.
If you think it's slow around here now ...
ya should have seen it 2 years ago.
Comparatively speaking,
it's a madhouse ! |

Or are all you Thai-teachers having such a good ole relaxing time that nobody feels the need to use Dave's to let off stress and steam? |

Following up on Volodiya's original subject line,
here's something that may come as a surprise:
As of the 20th of September 2005
Dave's ESL Cafe boasts 23,163 members.
The Thaivisa Forum alone has 22,079 members,
with another 2,797 registered on Ajarn over the past year.
i.e., the combined total number of users on the Ajarn & Thaivisa Forums
is actually more than the total number of registered members here @ Dave's. |

Afraid not, old chap.
You didn't count in the additonal 6659 registered users on Dave's at the Korean Job Forum. |

^ Right you are.
Dave's wins with roughly 30K registered members to Thaivisa & Ajarn's combined 25K;
still ... when you consider the total number of forums here @ Dave's.
i.e., getting back to Volodiya's original question;
we certainly know the answer now ! |

You chaps get more traffic here (generally) than in the teaching section of TV. |

^ Good point, KK.
To be fair about the 'numbers' comparison, it should be duly noted that
Thaivisa.com attracts a lot of people who are not here teaching English.
