If you are considering a position with this "University" be warned it is not a place for teachers with any self-esteem, creativity, or self worth. The work environment is toxic. No teaching is allowed, just present the material in the books, follow the schedule and teach to the test!! And if all else fails (meaning the majority of students) pad the grades!

Is this your first job in the Middle East? Had you checked the place out first here before you took the job?

That institution has received mixed reviews... But, it sounds rather typical.

This is not my first job or my last. I have to say that I am sure there are places that are worse, but the amount of control that goes on there is amazing! The teachers are working under the tyranny of fear. The place I am currently working is not like that, I am respected and trusted for the educated person I am. Also, I am not the only one who feels like this. It really is a shame because the young women of this country deserve better, and no self respecting teacher is going to stay and be subjected to that kind of abuse.

Where did you see reviews of this university. I haven't seen any and a colleague and I would like to read them.

I have communicated with teachers and with people who were friends with teachers. They considered it pretty much the usual. Not that it sounded like a place that I would ever want to work. Crying or Very sad

Glad to hear that you have moved on to better things.
