Glenski

I think the poll software only accepts only up to five choices. he needs to make the range in each choice bigger e.g. 20-30, 40-60 etc to fit everyone in. I'm 42 by the way.

53 and still going strong.

No one at my university would fit in the poll - in fact, we are probably all over 50! (in the real university section anyway - some "youngsters" in their 30s and 40s over in the language school)

I just make it into the poll, for another two years at least. My husband however would be left out.

Only 1/3 of the 34 teachers at my university would even fit into your catagories. Most of them have been teaching for a couple of years too.

I'm 44 but my hands look and feel much younger.

They're soaking in Dove. It's 1/4 cleansing cream.

I love the name of the poll "older teachers" and the oldest option is 40!!.

Seems alright if the OP is about 8 to 10 years old.....

Very Happy

Have you noticed how the proportions are increasing arithmetically from the youngest to the "oldest" age group in the poll? I would not be at all surprised if the graph (if it can be called that) were to go exponential, showing that an overwhelming majority of us TEFLers are over 35!

Dear Scottnla,
Change the poll. That seems to be the overwhelming message here. In any case, your initial worry, that 47 is very old, seems to be a little disproved by the facts.

You shouldn't have trouble finding EFL work- If you've also got a little investment/retirement income behind you already (a lot of 40something lawyers do) I imagine you'll have a very nice time. If not, it may be hard work, but you'll still manage.

Regards,
Justin

Sorry, ...no really...I entered 40-50 and 50+ as catagories. I dont think it took Very Happy

BUT...wow, I'm impressed and may start to focus my attention on university level teaching. I hate to ask but...Considering China including HK, and Japan...and Thailand, what universities should I target.

Feel free to email direct at [email protected]

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but as someone who is 35, I fit both the last two categories! So the poll, in addition to insulting everyone over 40, has a serious design flaw! My grandmother never got tired of telling everyone she was 39, when she was nearly twice that age! Perhaps this poll was made with that kind of person in mind Wink
