1) BA Modern History & Politics

2) Systems/Business Analyst for local leccy company for cough cough years

3)Yes X2 - only next time I'd volunteer for redundancy a bit earlier.

Doesn't pay well, though, does it?

I didn't become post-grad until I did my TESOL diploma. But...

1. BA Music

2. Freelance musician (mostly rock, but my fair share of jazz and latin)

3. I don't remember the wording of the question. I'm glad I did the TEFL thing, so I think the answer is "yes." Working musician is a sucky job unless you're a rock star, and if you ARE a rock star, then it STILL may suck. I haven't had the privilage of finding out one way or another.

Hmm another musician.

I was never in a band, but I did almost starve to death as a guitar teacher. Laughing Glad those days are over.

My BFA in music did not lead to much in the way of a career, so here are some of the jobs I held in Canada: warehouse worker, shipper/receiver,
truck driver, carpenter, construction labourer, pipline worker, welder,
floor tile installer, factory worker (making wooden shingles), tree planter, camp maintainance person/truck driver/gopher/repair person, tree nursery worker.

And yes I did manage to last a full 3 weeks in a fast food job..........eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk!

Do I miss it? Sometimes I do, but I sure don't miss the uncertainty of the Canadian job market.

EFL has its moments, but overall it has been a good choice.

1. MBA

2. Secondary school teacher of science - except that the only experience I have of teaching science in state schools was during the practicums I did during the two-year B.Ed. programme

3. This has become my career, even though I trained to pursue a slightly different one (see 2. above). I should really have started my TEFL career 17 years ago after finishing my B.A. at my first university (at a time when I was totally debt-free!).

Who knows what I could have achieved by now? (A doctorate in education by distance learning, I bet! Mad As it is, I'll be starting on the road to this by starting a master's by distance learning next February. Smile )

You guys are great with the replies! Thanks Smile

As for me, I have tutored and done workshops in the states with college students who were taking remedial courses, conversation groups, editing and proof reading and conducting Writing Skill Test (WST) workshops. The WST is a writing and comprehensive test all sophmores need to take and pass in order to take thier upper division classes and graduate in the CAL State System.

But I have worked as a Gym Manager, Personal Trainer, Child Protection Services Social Worker, school counselor, Psyciatric Social Worker in the Jails, part-time instructor at a community college.

Currently, still stuck in the USA but very, very close to working abroad and teach ESL. I can't wait because I have always felt more at home overseas than in USA.

Keep coming with these great replies, you all are amazing Smile
