I'm off to thailand tomorrow to teach and may later go to Laos, Cambodia and/or china. Can i pick up guidebooks for those places in thailand? I don't want to get them before i go as i am not sure where i'll be going yet.

Is there anywhere in the world you can't buy guidebooks? Thailand is certainly not one of them, anyway! |

Your info seems to be dated.
There are some very large and very nice bookstores in HCMC.
Have you ever lived and worked in HCMC? How long? |

Er, bought a Rough Guide in Cambodia a couple of years ago. so strike them off the list. And although someone who had an embassy posting there used to describe it as the arsehole of the world, i am sure you can get a guidebook in Pakistan as well.
Sounds like legolarse may be a thorntree escapee! |
