Is there anywhere in the world you can't buy guidebooks? Thailand is certainly not one of them, anyway!

Yes, there are bookstores in Thailand. It's not Viet Nam you know. Laughing

For new copies you might go to:

http://www.asiabooks.co.th/

or

http://www.kinokuniya.co.jp/english/contents/network04.html
[scroll down a bit]

For used copies you might head to Banglampoo and the KSR.

Your info seems to be dated.

There are some very large and very nice bookstores in HCMC.

Have you ever lived and worked in HCMC? How long?

Er, bought a Rough Guide in Cambodia a couple of years ago. so strike them off the list. And although someone who had an embassy posting there used to describe it as the arsehole of the world, i am sure you can get a guidebook in Pakistan as well.

Sounds like legolarse may be a thorntree escapee!
