Yes, I'm refering to Madrazo.
In the past few weeks ginormous posters and wallpainting have gone up all over the place of this shameless old relic to shameless ways of the past. It could not be possible, for the love of god, that such a man would be elected, could it?
Let's see-there's no way that anyone from PAN stands a chance after Fox's performance. Outside of DF I'm really not sure about Peje's popularity. Surely no one outside of severely infected PRI sympathizers (oportunists) will vote for Madrazo? That should then point to Peje by a landslide...
I have friends who say that if Madrazo gets in it will be the last straw, a return to the dark ages (hmm sounds familiar...) and that they will leave the country.
The posters are scary, I mean just look at the guy! |

Every time I see him on tv, the image of Darth Vader comes to mind...complete with the Empire Strikes Back music.
Creel comes off as arrogant. I wish Castaneda could run...I see him as strongly independent...above the partisan shite. Peje might have a chance, but I'm afraid that the provincia will win this one.
Presidente Madrazo...I calls it here. |

And this province (Oaxaca) at least is sold lock stock and barrel already to the PRI goons. I'm hoping for a popular uprising then if the dinasours get in. |

Not that I would vote for him, but that's the way I call it. I think that if:
Peje wins, this country would be in for 6 years of confict with the US and an economic tumble.
If Creel wins, things would stay the same...nothing new, but no major upsets.
If Madrazo wins (and most importantly, a PRI ruled Congress), things won't change much until 2012 when the open the books and see what they've stolen. |

Funny...that seems to be the way of the southern states. However, Guerrero voted in a PRD governor recently. They won by trying to expose PRI misdeeds during campaigning, but when I lived in Acapuco, I got the goods on some o the nasty tricks PRD pulled off, particularly by strong-arming local syndicates into voting PRD. |

Peje will run all you feelthy gringo exploiters out of the country with higher taxes for foreigners and he will run Mexico into the ground financially with his give-aways to the poor. Plus he choses the most corrupt of the corrupt for his buddies. I think he dreams of himself as the Francisco Villa of the 3rd millenia.
Foreigners in Mexico have nothing to fear from Madrazo. It's not like the country became any less corrupt during the past sexenio than it was before, nor will it get any worse in the the next. |

Jeez Guy, it's just you and me here...
Of course there isn't a soul alive with clean hands involved in Mexican politics, Peje included. I lean to the left myself but am aware of the dirt that the NDP has gotten up to anywhere they've made it to power in Canada.
Here's my prediction: ...sheeit I can't see clearly in my crystal ball. So it looks like if a relatively fraud-free election is allowed to take place AMLO walks away with it and Mexico gets to try again with someone who isn't preaching the same old tired bull**** as the others. Personally, and faced with the choices, I'd give him a chance. Conflict with the US be damned, more countries should stand up to the good ol'.
Oh wait...no. Now I see clearly..yes fraud -free appears to be out of the question...what's this, the computers are down, can you believe it? And we have a MASSIVE shameless fraud by the shameless one himself. Ladies and germs please welcome the new president of Mexico ...yeah yeah yeah, I feel ill.
Speaking of vomiting, Bush's response to the huricanes driving up oil prices: it's obvious that we need to remove environmental concerns that prevent more oil exploration.
And Jesus wept. |

Mike is bang on with his assessment. Didn't know you followed AMLO's spending sprees from over there, Mike!

delacosta,
Huajuapan, which is Oaxaca's second, third or fourth, most important city (depending on who's reporting the data) is a PAN stronghold. Shame too because my padrino was the PRI mayor candidate last year. Huajuapan's had PAN mayors for about 15 years and PAN senators as well. I've been told that Putla and Tlaxiaco are big PRD lands, but my sources are sketchy on that one. |

Yes there are various party strongholds throughout the state. And it's almost certain that the PRI didn't actually win the last election, but they got in and Ulysis is a certified Madrazo stooge who will (has to) hand Oaxaca to him on a silver plate.
If Madmonster wins it will only be as a result of massive fraud, me thinks. |

It seems hard to disagree with Castaneda's statement a few days ago that Mexico's only positive hope for the future lies with Calderon (Creel is way out of the reckoning in the PAN stakes).
But would an AMLO presidency be so bad? I mean, how much damage could he do with a PRI-PAN lock on Congress? We've been witnessing the limits of executive power for the last five years... |

Works both ways. AMLO would have the power to block any initiatives out of Congress. So, same 6 years as the last 6 years...little gets done. |

Little gets done also means little damage, so that's something positive. |
