Hi guys,

Tuesday is the last day to buy tickets for the fete at the British Consulate on Saturday. Get them from Gaye (prononced 'Gay' - she's British, not Turkish) at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Tnel. The tickets cost 10 YTL for adults and 5 YTL for children. But, they also serve as tickets for the raffle ... which has prizes of holidays abroad amongst other things.

All the money raised goes to help widowed Turkish women, who were married to British men. Somehow they are not supported by either governments and are living in impoverished conditions.

You might want to come for, say, the second-hand book stall ... or maybe the bacon butties ... or just to sit on the grass drinking a cold beer.

BUT DON'T FORGET - THIS YEAR YOU CAN'T ENTER ON THE DAY WITHOUT A TICKET

I look forward to seeing some of you guys there ... all the fun starts at 12 noon ... get there early for the 2nd-hand book stall.

Hi again,

I thought I would reply to myself (what a sad individual I am!) to get this topic to the top of the list.

You can still get tickets today for the fete on Saturday ... but I think today is the VERY last day. You need to ask for Gaye at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Tnel. Let me remind you that YOU WİLL NOT BE ABLE TO ENTER ON THE DAY WITHOUT A TICKET!

By the way, some of the prizes in the raffle are now truly amazing ... like holidays (with fights included) for two in London, Bahrain etc. Your entrance ticket also serves as a raffle ticket.

Hey ESL_teacher1973, I wouldn't come to the British Consulate if I were you ... it's just off that REALLY dangerous street called Istiklal where people get shot at ALL the time :-))

So guys ... I hope to see you all there on Saturday ... get there early for the second-hand book stall.
