I just received a job offer from Profi-Lingua to teach at either their school
in Lublin or Poznan. They are going to send me the contract later today, so
I'll have more details them. Over the phone they mentioned teaching
approx. 20hours per week at a rate of 70 zl per hour. Accommodation can be found, but I will pay the rent monthly.
Does anyone know about Profi-Lingua? I am more than likely going to take the job, but just wanted to know if there was anything I should know good or bad. Thanks in advance. |

Strange it seems that my post has disappeared.
Basically I had said that although it's not always easy to find work after October it's not impossible. As some schools need extra teachers, teachers leave get fired, etc...
October is still good the worse time to come in the Spring when things are beginning to wind down.
Also I would never take a job at a school for a year long contract unless I could visit the school and city first. You never know where a recruiter is going to send you and you often have to wonder why they need a recruiter in the first place as they're more and more foreigners coming to Poland.
As far as Katowice you should know it's known as the armpit of Poland. Need I say more? If you like smokestacks, factories and air pollution then it's the city for you.
You should turn the tables on the recruiter afterall they need you more than you need them. Tell them where you want to go and if they can't get you there then come to Poland on your own.
All the best |

They pay great, but I hear that most people only work there for one year. Don't know why, exactly.
Katowice can be exciting. That's where most visiting musicians play their concerts (in this big UFO-looking thing called the Spadek). But it IS a dirty city. That being said, I knew a guy who spent a few years there and really liked it. |

That's true. But if you really want a music scene I imagine that Warsaw would be the best place for that.
Naturally it's the OP's option where to go, but I still say go to Katowice before commiting to live there.
If it was Cracow, Wroclaw, Gdansk or Torun at a good school, then it would be another story.
After that I'd be willing to recommend Warsaw, Poznan and Lublin.
Good luck,

Hey DMAC. You took the job in Katowice? I got a job there too, also Profi-Lingua....arriving Wednesday 12th. Ive heard good things about the place and for some reason the fact that its run by Poles and has a well established chain gives me more confidence than these places run by expats - which, having seen the job postings, are the worst payers.
Anyway, probably see your down there mate. Got accommodation sorted yet?
