I love marmite,
ive been here four days and my opinion so far is that its like a cross between barcelona and new york. Its a very modern city and actually feels like europe (have to remind myself am in south america). The press back home (london) is very hyped about sa in general. I cant comment on tix from usa but i bought a changeable return from england (cos i have to go back in a year) and was concerned it ran over 3 months (it is for a stay of 9) no questions were asked i got a smile and a buenasI had my laptop, tefl certificate and reiki certificates and cant comment if i had nbeen stopped but wasnt and all is cool.nat

I had a very similar thing happen while in Costa Rica: when crossing the border into Panama from Costa Rica they would not stamp out passports to allow us to go into Panama unless we had proof of a ticket out of Panama. Surprisingly enough, an airline ticket stating that we were flying from San Jose, Costa Rica, back to Los Angeles, California, wasn't good enough for the officials at the Panamanian border; they required us to show proof that we were going to leave Panama and they could care less about our flight out of San Jose back to Los Angeles. We ended up buying a bus ticket that we didn't ever use just so we could show them that we were eventually going to be leaving their country. And in our case the officials on the other end actually stopped the bus we rode into Panama and checked all of these things. Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw. I would say to be safe just buy some sort of a ticket, whether it is a bus, plane, or a train ticket to avoid the hassle of being asked why you don't have a return ticket [or why you have a one-way ticket] that is not within 90 days. I had a friend who was living in Costa Rica and every 3 months he had to leave and go to either neighboring country to get a stamp for his passport to be able to stay back in the country that he was in for 90 days.
