There it is again. Just what exactly is that [/i]lifestyle? |
First, you max out your credit cards at home and come over here so you can pay them off.
Then, you find out that you can get brand-new credit cards over here just because you have a job.
So you get them and spend, spend, spend! It makes you feel so rich and *successful*.

I always thought the expat lifestyle meant staying one step ahead of the FBI, Royal Mounties, (I cant remember what term my Irish friends used) or some other similar gang of thugs.
Just my take on things............ |

To loop right back round again to the original topic: have you seen how many posts are advertised at AUS on the Higher Ed website? 27! It makes me wonder how many of their faculty have already expressed their intention to leave after hearing of the new benefits regime? |

Someone earlier made the point that there are also experienced and qualified people willing to work more for less and lots of them!
I agree. |

Hi Crocus,
I glanced at those job ads and none were for language teachers - who are really about the only ones to be affected by these benefit cuts. Most of those ads are for various places in different faculties - PhD's whose higher pay insulates them from the problem.
So, even though there are 27 ads, it doesn't really say anything about benefit cuts... yet...
It will be interesting to see if they actually have to advertise for EFL teachers for their IEP next year. I can't recall seeing any ads outside of their own website in the past.
And BTW, I also checked out the Chronicle site and it had jobs for the University of Sharjah (which was discussed on another thread) and they were still listing the same benefit package as always.

Hi VS
Thanks for that. Yes, it will indeed be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming round of job vacancies - for both AUS and UOS.
