I've seen a lot of helpful advice on how to wire money to the States, but I need to know how easy is it to get money out of one's account in the U.S. Are there international ATM's abound? Or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks in advance!

Try this thread:

Good luck.

Try post offices. Look for the ATM with a cirrus or plus symbol on it, as long as your bank card has one too.

I had my American bank account for a while after I came back here, and I went to the post office ATM to withdraw money using my debit card. If your bank card is one of those visa/MC debit cards, it should work in the post office ATM. However, within two weeks I was denied transaction as my bank thought it was "suspicioius activity". So you might want to let your bank know of your plans, just a suggestion.

Hey, thanks everyone! I feel much better about this, now. Looks like I have less to worry about now, and thanks to OaklandZoo for the good point. I will definitely talk to the bank before I go.

Oh yeah.... I had to do that too... Informed my credit card companies that any transaction coming from the Far East WERE indeed valid.
Amex seemed most concerned/interested in having that information.
