I've known a few people who've called out 'İnek var!' to the dolmuş/minibus driver.
When I lived in Akcay a foreign teacher arrived. I told him that when he took the dolmus to school(in the next town) he had to tell the driver 'inecek var' He concluded it meant stop.

Anyway in his first weekend of teaching the kids were having a riot. He stood in the middle of class shouting inecek var. needless to say the kids found it hilarious and they didn't inecek var as he had intended.

You know on the bus you press the button and writes 'duracak'. One day the bust driver didnt stop and i said 'duracak var' instead of 'inecek var'.

once, a man in a minibus said 'Mubarek bir yerde inecek var' instead of 'musait bir yerde inecek var'. ( we were luck coz the driver understood what he had meant otherwise he could have driven to Mecca)

He was similar to an ugly duckling, except you could only find him at the top of a grammar exercise showing the other ducks what to do.

All the other examples made fun of him because he was poorly illustrated with a few typos.

Then one day he woke up only to find he was a beautiful article, correctly placed, formed, and pronounced with not a single extraneous syllable or preposition.

I love that story. Brings a tear to my eye every time....

One day, one of the mean examples threw a rock at our poor little sad example. One of his friends shouted 'Duck!' and our poor example lifted his head to listen and said, 'Me? Were you calling me?' and he was thunked on the head with the rock.

It was a tragic misunderstanding.

This is what linguistic misunderstandings can lead to! Terrible but preventable! Study your vocabulary, folks! Don't let this happen again...
