Okay, so I haven't recently been in the newspaper or on the telly or anything, but apparently I'm famous.
Today one of my students was wearing a shirt that says 'Justme' !!
'Justme' was written in hot pink sparkles, so I gather she must have gotten through the unofficial fan club.
It's my favorite weird English I've seen here. What's yours? |

I was delighted to see a 10 year old headscarf girl (with headscarf ma) in Kayseri a few years ago, sporting a sparkly t shirt which proclaimed, 'I just got laid!'. |

I once had a student who came in wearing a T-Shirt saying
'DO YOU WANT A B10W JOB'
(I bow down to your superior fame) |

Btw, I joined your fan club but only on the premise that there is an open bar at your fanclub meetings. |

Actually, I'm not a joiner. But if there's an open bar, I'll come to every meeting too.
I once tried to explain to a student why she shouldn't wear a shirt that says 'hussy,' but she was really dumb and got confused in that petulant way so I gave up and decided it was probably appropriate.
Same for the one with a shirt that said 'Gold Diggah.' |

Was walking through Şişli and heard some teenage girls revelling in the English they had learned somewhere. They were giggling hysterically and asking each other, "Excuse me but do you have a sheeeeet?!"
Profanity needs good pron. |

I like 'the,' but only when it's followed by a vowel. 'An' is a close second. I don't really care for 'a' very much. |

I like an a if a the is not the right one. Though the an and the a are not as good as the the. and when Johnny Marr joined the the they were great. Infact the the the album with Marr on is my favourite of all the the the albums. |

Another one in today's class:
'Low Woman'. Bad and archaic at the same time.
Do you think it's native speakers coming up with things to have a laugh at the expense of foreigners? Or foreigners who think English is cool but have no idea what it says?
To think that these shirts get by the designers, the makers, the wholesalers, the pazarcıs, the girls' families, the girls themselves... |

I'm in Shanghai at the moment. Today a girl was walking down the street in a teeny sleeveless see-through shirt that had "underneath appropriate" splashed across the front. And it was.
In Taiwan, my student had the cutest 5 year old boy. He often wore a shirt with 3 bunnies playing on swings. In the corner was written, "small boy kept for sexual perversion".
Who makes this stuff up? How can I get this job? |
