Hi,
Im interested in teaching English in Argentina and Im considering getting a TEFOL certificate through English International. Does anybody have any feedback as to whether or not most employers look highly upon that certification?

Thanks,
Brian

employers like it if you have some sort of tefl/tesol/celta/whatever degree, but they don't seem to care about distinguishing.

if you have experience, that's great.

if you're a native, that's great, too.

what matters most is that once you're hired, your students learn and they don't complain about you.

Hi,

No body I know has ever heard of English International, I would go somewhere else. Also, you seem to be looking for a TEFL cert. which is fine, but it is different from a TOEFL, very different.

Pleae see a better resource than a chat board for mor information, I would use TEFL.net, or msn serch engine.

good luck pal!

Dear OP,

If you are only interested in teaching English in Argentina for a year or two, don't waste your money on a certification course. After all, you're just looking for a South American adventure, right? If you are a native speaker, just show up in Argentina and look for work. You'll get work in no time if you look professional and intelligent. You'll most likely get conversation classes. This requires you to be entertaining, lively, outgoing, and fun. I think a 4-week acting class would be more beneficial than a 4-week CELTA course.

By all means, buy a few TEFL books, brush up on your grammar, and read a few books on how to teach! But if you are a native speaker, you need to remember that you are a very valuable commodity here in South America.

Feel free to PM me.
