Hi everyone,

I'm coming to Vietnam in November, but will only be back in America for the month of October. I'm currently in Japan, and want to start teaching sometime in November. I hear that it's a good month to look for a job.

But before that, I want to ensure that I have all the paperwork I need, and how to get that information while I'm still in America. I hope that one month is enough time to sort it all out.

1. Notarized degree
Is this something I can just get from my university? Or do I need to get a transcript notarized?

2. Police/Criminal Background Check
It sounds like while I can, I should go to the County Clerks office in my home county. Is that correct? It would be notarized by the authorities.

3. Medical exam
I assume I can just have this done in Vietnam. I speak Vietnamese fluently, and figure that it'd be just cheaper and simpler to have it done over ther.

Am I missing any documents that need to be provided? Have I covered correctly how to procure these pieces of information? It'd be great if we could have some sort of sticky post at the top of the forum saying:

1. If you're still in your home country, bring this info with you, and how to get it:
2. If you're in VN, this is how to get the US(or other consulates) to help you get your paperwork in order.

This sure is complicated.

Thanks for all your help.

Oh crap,

Wouldn't you know it? The moment I hit the post button, I realize that I had left something out. :/

4. Notarized CV/Resume
I'm not sure how you can get this done. Would any public notary do this? Don't they just notarize signatures?

Hello?

Is there anyone who can confirm that this is correct? I'd love to be able to get all of this done before I leave America, but I am unsure if this is a complete list.

I would really appreciate a little help. Even a "Looks good to me" is better than this silence.

Thanks.

You may need go to www.saigonesl.com and www.mekongesl.com to find something helpful. These sites are the most active ones in ESL community in Vietnam.

Just cut and paste your post, I am sure somebody will be more than happy to help...
