Afternoon all,
Looking for some advise on which course to opt for. I have opted against Online courses and in my pursuit I have stumbled across the following which has all the ingredients.

http://www.teflcollege.com/qa.php#

Can someone please share any experiences of this course with me or any opinions.

Many Thanks

Regarding TEFL courses in Thailand -

I'm not in the habit of making specific recommendations

but I'll make an exception and say that the following 4 courses

have a decent track-record, and are considered legit and worthwhile:

ECC Bangkok (CELTA)

Text-and-Talk Academy

TEFL International

AUA (SIT TESOL)

Others may be just as good, or even better,

but these 4 seem to get the best feedback.

You'll find direct links to these on The Master Index Thailand

... if you scroll down toward the bottom of the FAQ. [ Q11 ]

As a follow-up to what I wrote above ...

International House Bangkok will be offering a 4-week

With this new addition, there are

now 3 options for CELTA in Thailand:

I'd like to give you some advice about the use of advise and advice. Advise is a verb and advice is a noun. It is a common mistake to get them confused. This is worth knowing if you want to enter the world of TEFL.

I got my TEFL certificate from a group based out of Berkeley, California. Seems to be some of the same people who went to the University Exention course there.

This is not an addvertisement, but might be worth checking out: http://www.wesdirect.com

First of all, George, name one employer that "won't accept anything less".

it always makes me chuckle when the CELTA zealots start claiming that the CELTA is the ONLY course worth taking. Most people take one cert course, thats it. They really do not know much about the others.

I think I can show some ways in which the TEFL International cert has a lot of advantages over a CELTA. I am not saying CELTA is not a good course. It is. But the days when someone can just dismiss TEFL international out of hand and recommend the "bigger and more recognized" CELTA course are long over. Here ar just a few reasons why:

1. Quality varies more than TI courses because they are not all run by UCLES but are franchised out.
2. TI courses are considered to be funner and less stressful but just as comprehensive (just a general perception and may not be based upon fact)
3. Better job placement asssitance with interconnecting international network
4. Full alumni support with everything from alumni network to discount travel. CELTA gives you a cert and shows you the door.

I am not trying to say that our COURSE is better than the CELTA--that is simply a matter of personal opinion. But un some ways the total TI package is simply unbeatable.

TI is internationally recognized--heck we are operating in 17 centers around the world and are already offering more certs per year than Trinity. We are the single largest TESOL Certificate course provider in the world. British Council in BKK has already accepted our certs as equivalent. But, granted, CELTA still has a bit of an advantage over TI in this area. yet none of our 3,000+ grads complained last year about lack of recognition. Is there a problem? I do not think so.

OK, deal. As soon as the CELTA zealots add a heading that says WARNING...I AM A MINDLESS CELTA ROBOT INCAPABLE OF RECOGNIZING THE VALUE OF ANY OTHER COURSE.

Sound reasonable?

Very Happy

I mean, really, how legitimate is this statement?

"a lot of good employers won't accept anything less"

I think most of us know this is inaccurate.
