Ok, I currently live in Okinawa and am going to Thailand on holiday in a week's time. On the way back, due to flight problems, I opted for 22 hours in Taiwain.
I realise that I am not going to draw much of an experience out of the place, however, it's Saturday night, I guess that makes it alright.
So: Do I need a visa for Taiwain? I am a Britisher. How far from the action is the airport and where, on a Saturday night, is the action at all? Are there any cheap hostels I can get some sleep at?
Thanks in advance. |

Not sure, but I think you would get a landing visa so no problems. Just take an airport bus to the main train station and back to airport. Happy Family 1 or 11 are stones throw from the station for cheap room-check their website.
Get a map and walk around, ask someone at Happy Family about the Sat. night scene.

yeah mate youll get a landing visa no problems. As for clubs or pubs - Carnegies is a good one IMO.
Yeah and some hostels are super pricy here - stick with the cheapos like Happy family. |

Are you actually allowed to leave the airport during that period? I know I've had restrictions before and spent many a boring hour trapped in the airport.
Just a thought. |

Hi Essex Boy.
You can just go throught the airport on a 30 day automatic visa and get the air bus into town. If you stop at the Lai Lai Sheraton the Taipei hostel is just around the corner and you can nip up on the roof terrace there and someone will point you at the nightlife. Dunno if Roxy 99 or 45 are still going strong nowadays but there are plenty of pubs and clubs to suit tastes and pockets.
Good luck
