I was wondering what packages most of you received from Sohar University. Do they provide airfare to and from the original destination or only going out from point of origin?
And what about shipping allowance?
Lastly, Is it better to ask for a 1 or a 2 year contract? And has anyone renewed their contract with Sohar after the 1 or 2 year contract? And Is it easy to renew the contract?

Speaking generally -for jobs in the Gulf, I have been provided with a ticket from wherever I was located, but be sure to put your correct 'home' country on the application/contract so that is where the summer leave tickets will go.
I doubt that there is a shipping allowance as they have pretty much disappeared in Gulf contracts unless you are a PhD.
Don't know about contract length, but the usual is 2 and some place in the Emirates have moved to 3 year contracts. I do know that there are a few teachers who have been there for 3 or 4 contracts. Often that is a matter of taste and/or other opportunities for them.
Normally if one does their job and conforms to local laws, contracts are renewed.
