Do you mean to tell me that I wasted that whole poem!?!
Oh well, that's ok, you can share JT's.
Have been limericking all day (well it's a word now ) so maybe I'll just have to try again...
Melee thought she would like to get scary,
That it would be fun to make all of us wary,
But she quickly recovered,
When she discovered,
That being mean could get rather hairy.
It's a gift.

So it looks like the lunar fowl's shoes are far to big for me, If I wanted to be like her, I'd have to constantly point out that I did not come to Mexico to teach, but rather to research the book that I published (IN SPANISH!) about the life of Zapata, and that I loved his old haunts in the state of Morelos so much that I stayed there to write, direct and star in a play that educated the locals about their great hero. And despite having no formal TEFL training, Id have to say that got into teaching and was even made manager of a branch of a national chain of language schools. And that when I left said language school I got into a dispute about my severance package and took the school to court and won, despite being a foreigner, but after all, if I were her, Id be a blonde Native American. I'd have to brag about the fact that I don't own any books about teaching English, because in fact, I much prefer to read in Spanish. And that I later became the director of the language department at more than one university but spent most of my time their giving academic talks (IN SPANISH) about other areas of interest, as well as developing study skills programs for the marvelous students that would solve all their learning problems and help them advance from no English to fluent four semesters, of course I would have to have left these positions before it became clear that the students still had major problems. All the while lamenting that I sold the world's greatest vocho after years of having people beg me to sell it to them, this vocho was highly superior because it came from the other side of the boarder, I wouldn't by one made in Mexico, because they are inferior, but if anyone else suggested anything in Mexico was inferior Id barrage them with insults and tell them to get the hell out of the country. If I were her, Id be very vocal about the evils of multinational big box stores, but insist, that outside of the bazaars which sell imported used clothes the only place that us blonde Native Americans can decently cloth ourselves in this country is at Palacio de Hierro! |
MELEE, your racist remarks about the indigenous peoples of highland Bolivia are unacceptable on this forum. My daughter is more mature than you will ever be and she's only 30 years old. What are you doing in Latin America anyway? Stop doing the gringo dance and go and read "las venas abiertas de latina america". I read the first edition in spanish. I have also written a number of critiques (in spanish) on Borges and every other latin american writer. Between reviewing films and writing sports reports i have also produced and written many theatre pieces (in spanish) and have not spoken a word of english for over 6 months. My accountancy and consultancy jobs are still going strong. You need to learn some logic (i have been teaching this for over 40 years-in spanish). What have YOU done? |

| I was a lurker too. Every time I tried to register the system was down, and I got tired of it and gave up. Last week as a fluke it actually worked, and here I am. As for racist comments, its not exactly anything new in Latin america, you should be used to it by now, even if it is pretty ugly. |

Some good memories in this post, LOL.
BTW is it safe to mention that if I have time during my flying visit through Mexico City next week I'm planning a quick run up to La Villa just to visit WalMart?
In Spanish, of course. |

Geez, Matt, I wasn't entirely sure you were being sarcastic! Fortunately I'm familiar with "the lunar fowl's" Modus Operendi and got the joke. Hmm. I think I prefer PT's limericks |

And don't forget that you'd have to call anyone who called your comments into question an "uneducated parasite".
And let's not forget that you'd have to tell everyone how you were a secret undercover reporter who infiltrated the American military to get a big story and was offered an officer's commission to keep quiet. |

Yes!
You are all uneducated parasites and should not be allowed out of your home countries--and just for the record, I'm the same age as her daughter. (And she's been asking me to hire her for years )
And lurkers, this is inside joke, you'd have to have been around a while to get it. |

I'm a new lurker. Hi, y'all. I just miss Latin America and very recently told one of your regulars that I'd check in here.
I'm in China now, and will likely be returning to the US soon, but what I really miss is Tacos Alvaros, in Oaxaca. Anyone know that place? The best taco shop in Mexico, so far as I know. |

Please note how I am still maintaining my New Year resolution not to say nasty things about other posters, even those who are no longer posting.
And I would love to see Pauly back, surely he deserves another hearing. |

You did mean to write beating and not hearing right?
Your resolution, not mine. |
