Hi all!

I've been in China 2 and a half years now - teaching in Shandong Province - but I'm starting to crave big city life (and the extra money that goes with that)!!

I'm trying to decide between Beijing and Shanghai. I've visited both cities and they both have pros and cons. I like the 'pace' of Beijing compared to hectic Shanghai. I like the history of Beijing, and the fact there would be so many things to see there. But it seems there would be far more opportunities in Shanghai to earn money - and I'm at a point in my life now where I need to be earning (those university debts just don't disappear no matter how far I travel!!!)

To be honest I would much prefer to move out of the teaching profession but I'm worried my Chinese (speaking) is not up to scratch (my chinese writing is pretty much non-existent!!)

I have a BA Hons Management Degree from England (where I'm from). And, by the time I move, I will have 3 years teaching experience in China. I'm looking for a school (primary or junior) in the centre of the city, and, after reading this and other forums, I am looking to be paid at least 12,000 a month.

I've been told this shouldn't be a problem but I've yet to see any concrete offers.

Does anyone on this board have a similar deal, or know someone with a similar deal?

I am looking for names of schools you would recommend. Maybe e-mail addresses or phone numbers.

I'd appreciate any help or advice - thanks for your time!!

ps. If anyone has any more advice about moving away from teaching to work in BJ or SH, that would also be much appreciated!!

Given these demanding criteria, apparently not!
Or maybe people with these jobs like to keep them to themselves. Look at kindergarten teaching: that exists in SH. Try the Asiaexpat website's classified ads. With business and teaching experience you should be able to get well paid corporate training in SH. However, this will take time as you need to network. I can give you an initial contact if you care to PM.

If it's money and city living you crave, maybe Taipei is more your speed?
